I have always wanted to join a profession that will allow me to reflect my innate abilities. Since my earliest career planning, I had in mind that I would join a profession in which I would love to go to work, rather than having to go to work. It is only when one loves one profession that ones’ productivity is optimized. For me, that profession is Marketing.

Marketing was an integral part of my business studies during A levels. Having a preliminary insight into Marketing, I realized that it is arguably the most influential business division. Marketing produces data for informed decision-making in business and establishes targets for the business. One thing I love about Marketing is that it is never boring. I see myself in a role where I would be constantly updating myself on the latest trends and consumer preferences, the latest techniques of advertising, and the new wonders of digital technology. Another very appealing aspect of Marketing is that it requires teamwork. People from different cultures join hands, bringing the very best from their respective cultures, to promote a product or service. As a Marketer, I shall be able to socialize with culturally diverse peers on daily basis and form long-lasting contacts and bonds with them.

Successful brands like Gucci, Giorgio Armani, and Pepsi heavily invest in marketing and the sales profile reflect the fruit of investment.

I love the experimentation in Marketing. From issuing loyalty stamps to the customers to discount days, Marketers are always busy trying something new to enlarge the customer base and gain customer loyalty. Having practiced these techniques for some years in some big firms, I intend to apply the lessons and techniques thus learned to make my own brand successful, which I intend to establish some years later. Marketing can make or break a business, so it is crucially important for someone who aspires to become an entrepreneur in the long-term to be formally educated in Marketing and preferably be sufficiently experienced in it as well. Gaining this degree is also a prerequisite for being selected in a big firm to gain that valuable experience.

My personal qualities also convince me that Marketing is the most suitable profession for me. Being sociable, talkative, articulate, and emotionally intelligent, I have an inherent skill of hitting the right chords when it comes to convincing others. Studying Marketing at a prestigious school will provide my inherent skills with a solid theoretical base so that my ability to be productive in practical situations will be optimized.
