It is evidently clear from the discussion that the training teaches one on how to rescue large animals safely that may possibly be hurt. It also enables one to be safe during the rescue attempt, since these large animals can be wild. The large animal rescue was not common until 1990. Dr. Tomas Giminez, who was working at Clemson University in the early 1990s, became interested in large animal rescue. He then involved veterinarians and emergency responders in educating and emphasizing on scene safety.

Large animal rescue mainly focuses on the behavior of animals, which is very important before coming close to them. According to Tomas and Rebecca, technical large animal rescue training is now being offered all over America, and four other continents. Safety of humans is very is a very important factor to consider in large animals rescue. This means that a rescue attempt can only be carried out if the safety of all the rescue personnel is assured. A green helmet on fire man symbolizes that he or she is trained in animal rescue, and advice given by this person should be taken seriously.

There are safe places to stand in a rescue attempt, and the public also needs to be at a safe distance away from the operation. During a mud rescue attempt, the rescue members should stand at a safe place where they cannot fall into the mud. Suitable equipment can also be used to ensure that the horse is released from the mud without causing any harm to the rescue members. In a fire situation, rescue personnel cannot enter a place to save an animal if the fire can cause serious harm to him or her.

In flood cases, swim rescue is discouraged because one can end up drowning since animals are mostly not cooperative. Sedatives can be used when necessary to rescue the animal, and most importantly, ensure the safety of the rescue personnel.
