Application of the Chinese Calligraphy in the Modern Life Name Class Professor Institution City and State Date Application of the Chinese Calligraphy in the Modern Life Introduction The use of Chinese calligraphy in the modern life has been a subject of interest to scholars. Lots of research has been done to seek how relevant is the Chinese calligraphy to the modern man. Ideally, the concept of Chinese calligraphy entails the written symbols that are used to communicate the Chinese language. Each symbol known as a character has its meaning though some can have multiple meanings depending on the context with which they are used. Unlike languages that have alphabets to design them, this case is different and characters are drawn with each one designed to convey a particular meaning. People who are educated with the application of the Chinese calligraphy have knowledge of more than 3000 characters along with their meaning (Ming, Weiqing, & Zhang, 2014, p.157). Given that this is all that constitutes to the Chinese calligraphy, it can be challenging to learn it given that there are no alphabets. In this case, simple tools which entail a brush and ink are used, unlike other languages that will need a ballpoint pen. It is the use of these tools that creates special and complex effects which find the application of the Chinese calligraphy relevant. The Chinese Calligraphy and its Application Calligraphy is a form of writing was a visual kind of art whose root dates back in the ancient China. Ideally, this forms the backbone of the Chinese art of writing which is adequately documented for its contribution in China and the entire world. Fundamentally, this art of writing made the use of ink and brushes to accomplish its goals. It was referred as one of the fine art practices since it was introduced in China even before the art of painting was discovered in this land (Shan, 2016, p.45). It took a lengthy spell before the art of painting could be welcomed in China during the reign of the Song dynasty. At this time, painting became acknowledged as one of the forms of fine arts in China along with this art of writing by the use of brush and ink. When painting and writing became recognized in China, this marked an important revolution in the Chinese calligraphy since it now grew reach than before. Ideally, the recognition regarding this important step was done worldwide, and its authority endorsed. In essence, the culture of calligraphy in the Chinese communities reflects its significance to the world since it helps to bring the identity of these people. Before the introduction of this form of calligraphy in China, rulers and administrators have difficult time to inscribe instructions to their subjects. They have to write these things on the stone tablets which was not effective at all for them to be able to perform their administrative duties. It is recent that scholars in the Chinese community have come to reveal the importance of calligraphy to the Chinese people by considering the transformation that was put in place by the application of its core principles. As deemed in the current community, calligraphy holds a pretty important position to the Chinese people, and the same result will be expected to hold even in the future. Chinese have not neglected the traditional methods of writing, and this is a proof of its significance to them. Additionally, the Chinese calligraphy is visible in many designed clothes depending on the manufacturer as seen in the picture below. (Shan, 2016, p.35) In the modern day life, the Chinese calligraphy has found a wide range of uses. Some of these uses have been operational within China while others have been implemented even across the borders. People find the application of Chinese calligraphy fascinating to them and this has attracted an eye of a broader spectrum of people all over the world. Currently, many people are fond of using items that show the label of the Chinese calligraphy since they find it attractive to them. For instance, people like the use of book covers that contain the features of the Chinese calligraphy along with the use of the Chinaware. Such are the prime examples that are used all over the places worldwide and bear the epitome the Chinese culture. Due to the fact that these are only symbols that have been drawn by the use of ink and brushes, it makes it a fascinating feature to people all over the world. A considerable proportion of people from outside China who were interviewed regarding the use of Chinese calligraphy in the modern world had a positive response regarding this idea (Ming, Weiqing, & Zhang, 2014, p.156). They said that companies that sell books whose cover bear the Chinese features of culture sell lucratively in the world’s market. People find it amusing and enjoy interacting with these Chinese symbols. At the same time, they enjoy the utilization of the Chinaware which bear much of the Chinese calligraphy. Ideally, it is sound ideas that embrace the Chinese culture in the modern day life which holds to preserve these traditions since they are still valuable to the modern generation. The fact that simple skills are required to make the application of this feature to the modern day life makes this easily applied in Chinaware and book covers. Indeed, it is a connotation of embracing the old traditions that are of value to the modern day life. (Shan, 2016, p.26) Because only a brush and ink are used, it is possible that one can be convinced that the Chinese calligraphy lacks dynamism in it. However, this is not the case since this effect is just created from the perspective of the abstract appearance of the design. In an ideal world, the Chinese characters adopt dynamism to a large extent by assuming the kinesthetic energies which bring the balance to them just as it is done to a body of a human being (Shan, 2016, p.26). Nevertheless, this balance is created from the perspective of the skeletal structure of the person in question which helps to illuminate the moral ability of an individual. People can be surprised how all this takes place, but the answer to this is simple as the conventional tools which are ink and brush are used to bring the effect. From the perspective of the fact that only simple tools such as ink and brush are used, this gives a contradiction given the complex effect that is impacted. Some of these complex effects can be used in the creation of posters as shown in the figure below. (Zhou, Zhang, & Edelheim, 2013, p.112) Indeed, the complex effect is brought about by the multiplicity, and consistency application of a varied amount of inks by the use of brush till the desired effect is established. In this case, black ink is the most suitable for the job and is concisely employed by the calligrapher to bring out the planned effect. Paintings can be done on stones until liquid is shown to flow on the surface and this is still controlled. The thickness of the symbol can be varied by conditioning the amount of water that is mixed with the ink by the calligrapher (Shan, 2016, p.36). Once the calligrapher commences the process of writing, this combination of water and is varied when loading the brush destined at bringing the desired symbol. Given this, one has to understand that unlike other languages that require the use of ballpoint pen to enable the writing process, the Chinese calligraphy makes the use of simple brush and ink. Profoundly, unlike a ballpoint pen which cannot inspire the production of countless possibilities, the use of brush enables this to happen. In the first place, the brush can allow for the variation of width with its strokes. At the same time, an individual in able to create either two or three-dimensional effects by using a brush unlike with the utilization of a pen. Moreover, the speed of the calligrapher can still determine the nature of the effects to be created which is not bad for the creation of multiple effects (Zhou, Zhang, & Edelheim, 2013, p.111). Most importantly is that such Chinese calligraphic skills can be used in various other unrelated applications. For instance, one can never write off painting which is an essential effect that needs that application of diverse skills to bring out an appealing effect. It is this skill that can be applied in instances such as the creation of more attractive CD boxes as shown below. ( Zhou, Zhang, & Edelheim, 2013, p.111) From the perspective of an outsider, the brush used to inscribe these effects appears to be an extension of the writer's arm. At times, it could still be deemed the entire body given the connection that is brought out. However, all that is of importance is the physical gestures that are put into frame since they reveal much about the calligrapher starting with their impulsiveness, elegance, and restraint (Wixted, 2014, p.107). In essence, the contribution of calligraphy in China helps to tell more about a calligrapher, and this reveals him as an artist. In this regard, the counterbalance effect that is brought about by the Chinese draws much focus from the Americans which implies its importance in the modern world. Most importance is the dynamism that is displayed here which can be brought for applications is various processes. Almost all the aspects of life need such dynamism and the simple art of creating something out of nothing which is the mainstream of the Chinese calligraphy. As explained from this context, the Chinese calligraphy needs words be written a particular format and remarkably from left to right. Such an order is imperative in any other context and helps to formulate protocols which help to ensure proper running of roles. Given the existence of this order in the Chinese calligraphy, this eases the memorization process for those who engage the learning of the course (Zong, 2016, p.37). It is the same case with any place whereby the order is instilled and observed. Functions and carried out with ease and the instructions become easy to follow. When executing roles, this order ensures the right rhythm is followed which is important. Systematically, it is justified to compare the calligrapher to a dancer who has to design his movements well to accomplish the pace of the song. Although the Chinese calligraphy was more relevant in the old age days, many people still find it necessary with the effects that it brings to humanity. One of the area that it could be considered imperative is the way it enhances the memorization of characters which is vital to the human brain (Wixted, 2014, p.107). Another thing is the inspiration that it brings by observing the use of simple tools that are made to bring out the complex effect. Notably, these applications are found necessary not only within the Chinese realm but in the entire world. People are interested in learning this Chinese culture grounded from this point of view and this explains the reason Chinese is the widely spoken language in the world. Conclusion To conclude, a lot of explorations have been conducted to seek out how applicable is the Chinese calligraphy to the contemporary life. Perfectly, the concept of Chinese calligraphy involves the written symbols that are used to communicate the Chinese language. Each symbol known as a character has its connotation though some can have several meanings contingent of the context with which they are utilized. Unlike languages that have alphabets to scheme them, this circumstance is different and characters are drawn with each one intended to convey a particular implication. People who are educated with the application of the Chinese calligraphy have an acquaintance of more than 3000 characters along with their connotation. Given that this is all that establishes to the Chinese calligraphy, it can be interesting to learn it given that there are no alphabets. In this perspective, simple tools which involve a brush and ink are used, unlike other languages that will need a ballpoint pen.
