Due DISCUSSION RESPONSES Response to Samantha It is true that presently many children find themselves living with or being cared for by their grandparents is a growing phenomenon. Every day I am confronted with people discussing how they cannot make ends meet, the cost of living makes self-sufficiency harder than ever before, and this results in children returning home with their own children in tow (Martin, 2014). I agree that it is a significant and current occurrence. Raising children at and beyond the years of retirement is not easy.

However, caring for family and taking care of those in need is a major part of being a Christian. That said, the Golden Rule, Mathew 7:12, which states, “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets,” to be the guiding idea on the topic. Redgardless of how grandchildren end up in their grandparents care; they are innocent participants in the event. Sometimes it sounds like a lot of people forget that. Like they are a burden or inconvenience, and that is not something that would be regarded as Christian.

REFERENCEMartin, M. E. (2014). Introduction to human services: Through the eyes of practice settings (3rd ed.). Upper Saddle River, NJ: PearsonResponse to Jane You are absolutely right however prevalent bullying is today it is hardly a new occurrence. Bullying is essentially taking advantage of those weaker than you, controlling others with the use of fear, and abusing powers over those who have less power. That is not new. We see it every day in political, social, institutional, and religious organizations.

The Golden Rule, Mathew 7:12, states, “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” It sets forth a very logical and common sense idea, treat people how you want them to treat you. Of course that does not always work out with every type of bully, but it does provide the bullied with a solid foundation when confronted with bullying. Today we are attempting to explain bullying via psychological evaluation (Martin, 2014). However, bullying is a social issues as much as a psychological one.

The inaction of people who witness bullying and stand-by and do nothing also allows bullying to be perpetuated as normal and acceptable. REFERENCEMartin, M. E. (2014). Introduction to human services: Through the eyes of practice settings (3rd ed.). Upper Saddle River, NJ: PearsonResponse to Jennifer You are absolutely right, the number of cause and reasons that lead to domestic violence is, sadly, quite long. Domestic violence continues to remain prevalent regardless of education and other measures to lower the statistics (Martin, 2014).

However, the one thing that can be universally agreed upon is that no matter what the reason physical, mental, and emotional abuse is unacceptable. While the Bible offers a lot of instruction on how people should treat one another; the same book relegates women to a subservient position to men. This, I believe, is a huge contributor to heterosexual domestic violence. Women today are not obedient and secondary; this can be frustrating to men who have been programmed to believe that women are somehow less.

Of course, it is the Golden Rule that I feel sets the most basic, honest, and common sense approach to the world. Also referred to as Mathew 7-12, states that “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” REFERENCEMartin, M. E. (2014).
