Research Proposal on the Effects of Binge Drinking on the Lives of College Concepts to be measured in the ResearchThe research would require the measurement of key relevant concepts. This would enable the realization of appropriate research findings useful in policy formulation. The concepts to be measured will bring out the qualitative aspect of the research study and findings will mostly be in the form of narrations. The key concepts that get be measured include reliability and validity. The study would be conducted using primary data collected through interviews and observation methods discussed in the previous paper.

The data collected gets used to get the effect of the dependent variable on the independent variable. In the study, the variable that is dependent is the lives of the college students while the independent variable is binge drinking. Through the measurement of the concepts, the influence of the dependent variable on the independent must be established. These concepts get explained as below;ReliabilityReliability gets achieved when the steps taken in the research can be verified by examining raw data and results of the data reduction process.

(Campbell, 1996). The testing of reliability will also be promoted by establishing the trustworthiness of the respondents during the interviews and the link between the observation results and the subject matter of the research being conducted.ValidityValidity would be measured by the researcher’s perception of the responses given during the interviews and notes taken during observation. This measurement will establish if the responses received and the notes taken (data collected) gets fit to bring tangible results of the study.

Analysis appropriate for the research questionData collected from the personal interviews and the notes taken during observations would be analyzed, summarized and interpreted accordingly with the aid of descriptive statistical techniques such as tables, bar graphs and easy percentages. The bar graphs would be used to the relationship between the lives of college students who embrace binge drinking and those are nondrinkers. The relationship between the academic performances of the two groups will also be shown using the bar graphs.

The same results will also be presented in clear percentages.Regression analysis and analysis of the variance will also be conducted in order to explore more of the relationship between the independent and the dependent variables. The dependent variable (the live of the college students) is what would be regressed, and the regressing variable will be the independent variable (binge drinking).ReferencesCampbell, T. (1996).
