Name Course Lecturer Date The Adaptive Design Methodology of Environmental Performance Optimization Method on the BIM ‘Families’ Keywords: environmental performance simulation, algorithmic design, BIM ‘families’, optimization. .Introduction It has established that ‘families’ is a significant part of Building Information Modeling systems (BIM) [5]. These families have continued to play an important role in various roles of building elements such as windows, walls, door, and complex ecological epidermal information classification, integration and parametric definition. The BIM designs objects are stored in a unified database and users may add information according to their needs. The database also provides information for various analytical implantation conditions and support the adaptive responses optimization and life cycle management of construction project. The BIM “families” system offers a technical fundament for complicated construction and influence on the design procedure of the project. The paper reflects on the present study and research in industry while analyzing the BIM ‘Families’ geometric properties. In addition it evaluates the adaptive multi-objective environment performance optimization and evaluation At the moment, there is an increased experience among the designers and building owners in the BIM pilot projects [7]. It has been observed that most companies are implementing BIM methods in their pragmatic projects. As shown in the graph below; Figure 1 BIM is therefore, seen to represent highly and technical structural aspect of data related to building. The present study and research in industry The beginning of performance optimization draws back to the time when researchers created some measures for improvement. This is attributed to the fact that the primary purpose of environment performance of buildings is basically to optimize the ecology character of any building. In the same way, the surfacing of BIM ‘families’ study offers a complete life cycle from a one stage in order to optimize the environmental performance of buildings. This would be carried out from a local to a whole, and a multi-objective optimization of a joint work platform. Still, there is introduction of some optimization and evaluation system software which research work so as to offer better assist in optimizing the environmental performance of buildings [3]. The progress of the study of environmental performance of building may be divided into three levels depending on the focal point on the advance work. The stages include; the basis of the study-the environmental performance of the building analog; assessment of the environmental performance of the building that is based on points; and optimization if the environmental performance of the building which is the purpose of the study. At present, single purpose simulation software has been used in the evaluation of environmental performance of building comfort, and optimization of energy saving both at home and abroad. On thermal performance, it is generally accepted that thermal comfort and air conditioning load are varied and many. However, most researchers have realized that there are problems that are encountered with this and therefore, have recommended the multi-objective performance optimization as an effective way of solving the problems [8]. The figure below depicts a multi-objective environmental performance design concept Figure 2 The BIM ‘Families’ geometric properties As earlier seen ‘families’ forms part of the BIM system and therefore; crucial in bridging the topics from a performance evaluation to the shape optimization. The ‘families are not only able to the save the 2D and 3D modeling CAD drawing geometric information but also hold properties of the object information which include windows ‘families’. In addition, ‘families’ parameters clearly define the manner that a ‘population’ is not a mere simple information memory and concurrently may receive self adjusting and information [1]. In addition, it is said to be responsive to various driving conditions of a computing unit as depicted in the figure below which shows families object as parameters storage. Figure 3 In order to improve the environmental performance of the whole architectural design, optimization needs to be broken down into various families. This may be illustrated by the following example, if the assessment report shows that the architectural design of a natural ventilation performance is pitiable, it is then required that a change in the windows open in order to improve the way. However, there is a need to define environmental performance of the building in relation to ‘families’ parameters as the computer may not be able to judge simple design logic as aforementioned. Dynamic information exchange method Project sample architectural project In an architectural project, the process is carried out step by step as the depth of BIM models require that the all information is provided in the content. As the BIM model offered include building height, size, area, for example, it is observed that the evaluation or assessment is concentrated in macro analysis which include orientation, weather information, building volume and passive strategies. This referred to as the design stage. In the design development stage, the BIM models are able to offer a primary architectural model element, which are the overall system and a portion of non-geometric information. As such, the analysis is likely to be concentrated in the shade, sunshine, ventilation, basic energy consumption and thermal performance. In the final construction design stage, the analysis of information that is related to intensify the analysis of ventilation, lightning, energy consumption and thermal calculation may achieve detail report as the BIM families’ elements are able to achieve a precise size, shape, number and material. This, therefore, indicate that the in the design stage, the evaluation or assessment objectives, is different as shown in the diagrams below; Figure 4 multi-objective performance evaluations Delineation of the assessment target has brought in uncertainty analysis perform, evaluation of the performance of the environment and production platform resources required for stimulation. However, there is tangible difference between the scope of evaluation and application of an object between the platforms. The band between the BI software and semantic analysis software problem is a complex one. However, the multi platform sharing should be a cross platform work as it makes the multi-objective optimization process to be based on BIM families [6]. It is important to note that the assessment of the environmental performance of building is an all-inclusive and also reflect on the weight of the procedure. A study may focus on three aspects of the environmental objective considering the double impact of the practical and technical requirements. These include thermal performance, natural ventilation and natural light. The evaluation methods may include the indicator item and the index weights. The indicator item is significant as it ensure completeness, a need to numbers of indicators, and evaluation and simulation of any difficult. However, this may weaken the actual optimization that need to be implemented. Despite this, the selected indicators must not be questioned in the industry so as to enhance the credibility of the evaluation system. On the other hand, the index weight is seen to contribute difficultness in the evaluation, nevertheless one may use the Delphi ethos combined with the analytical hierarchy process and open weight coefficient in order to make the evaluation method cope with varying external environment conditions leading to the building requirements performance which eventually results to a higher sensitivity rating [4] Figure 5 Environment performances according to differential functional requirements and different climatic conditions Adaptive multi-objective environment performance optimization and evaluation In any architectural design, environmental performance optimization procedure, the designs and problems experienced in decision making are multi-objective. In addition, they are observed to be between different goals, therefore creating competition between each and making it difficult to make each a target in order to achieve optimal at the same time. For example, there may a decrease in the performance of the wall insulation if the ventilation and lighting of a room is done at the same time. In addition, so as to ensure that the results of the assessment if thermal insulation properties, there should is therefore a need to drive thermal insulation coefficient of the material of the glass [2]. It also important to note that genetic algorithm has been used to solve architecture design of the environmental performance of multi-objective optimization problem as shown in the diagram below; Figure 6 Notably, natural environment has been selected on the variation of the families and has been used in the optimization of the environmental performance of buildings. As such, ‘families’ parameter is a dynamic solution set that has been evaluated by various environmental performance and set to select optimal results. In addition, computer assist in building environmental performance optimization tool as depicted in the diagram Figure 7 Conclusion The article basically attempts to analyze the multi objective analysis and families, which are parametric linkage mechanism, as an existence of multiple software’s interconnected, evaluation feedback and multi-objective optimization method. However, it is well noted that BIM system attempts to build the engineering, architecture, performance analysis, logistic and equipments and construction management so as to create a collaborative platform. Such a platform is then required to address important issues of access information output and input as well as the compatibility of varying software. Indeed, of important to note is the fact that BIM families systems have continued to provide technical fundamental for complicated construction while adaptive work flow influencing the design process of projects.
