Research has shown that UK nurses feel extra pressure for many reasons including clinical environment of their job, excessive work load, serious condition of most patients, inadequate training facilities, insufficient resources, family status etc. Suicide amongst public sector employees has become a common outcome of such work related stress. Burnout is an occurrence of emotional, physical and mental exhaustion originated from the long term association in situations that are psychologically and emotionally demanding.

Some of the factors for burnout syndrome are resentment, frustration, boredom at work, isolation factor, paranoia, irritability, short temper and aggressiveness. It can result into poor concentration, poor productivity, inclination towards making mistakes, insomnia, guilt, depression, loss of libido, denial etc. Research conducted in this paper has confirmed the fact that consequences of the stress amongst the bank employees of the health care sector of UK lead to bad performance which in turn affects the patients’ well being as well as the organizational performances.

Proper intervention programs and efficient management are needed to avoid adverse outcomes owing to burnout.Chapter three is about work related stress in UK as the second most common health problem related issue. It occurs when work load becomes excessive for employees to manage. This chapter discusses stress at health care sector results from daily work pressure and has resulted in many psychological problems like anxiety, depression etc. Poor work management and poorly structured physical ambience are some of the causes of stress.

Stress is more prominent in women health care personnel since they have to manage their family and professional lives. Job dissatisfaction which emerges from long working hours and low salary means more job related stress. Research has proved burnout morbidity amongst the health care professionals resulting from excessive workload affecting home life, poorly managed resources and patients’ suffering.
