Extract of sample "The Ladder of My Life"

Personal ment I was born and raised in a business mindset family due to which I had always thought of running some business after completing my education. I have always seen my parents and other family members talking about and discussing business issues that played a significant role in developing my mindset and interest in business. This is the reason for me to select business as my main field of education. As my future goal is to run my own business after completing my education, I am perusing a degree in accounting. I believe that it is the best path that persist me to move up the ladder of my life and fulfill my professional ambitions. My short-term plan is to get an Associate degree in accounting to gain new knowledge and refine my existing accounting skills and knowledge. My long-term goal is to start my own business where I can use my professional accounting skills and knowledge to achieve success. My aim is to become an invaluable part of the development and economic progress of my native country, Cambodia. I want to play a key role in the economic development of my country by running a successful business. An advanced knowledge of accounting and related subjects would be helpful for me as an entrepreneur to ensure and achieve business success in the present fluctuating economy of my country. I am of the viewpoint that economic status and educational opportunity go side by side in ensuring quick personal and professional progress and achievement. This is the reason for me to get a degree in the field of professional accounting. This degree would help me in acquiring key accounting skills and knowledge, as well as in running a successful business. I have had some working experience that proved to be very helpful for me to understand the value of the practical professional life. For example, I have recently worked in a local TV station broadcast in Long Beach, which is called Khmer TV. I worked there as an interpreter and gained experience of managing the office work. This working experience has improved my English language skills and has allowed me to become more socialized and able to do successful communication with other people. At present, I am also working part time for a local retail business, namely Bigfish Tackle, in Seal Beach California as a salesperson. My duty is to contact with the customers all the time and make successful deals with them related to the sale of the company’s products. Both of these practical experiences have helped me in developing professionally. I have come to know the ways to run a successful business. I have learned that commitment, dedication, customer focus, visionary outlook, and a sense of responsibility are the key contributors to the success of a businessperson. I frequently interact with the owner of the retail business I am working for to learn new business ideas. Both of the above-mentioned experiences have played a considerable role in enhancing my business knowledge and intelligence and have helped me gain an understanding of the realities of the business world. Moreover, I have learned from my experiences about the similarities and differences in the methods that each company applies to make a successful change in the business strategy. All of this will be useful for me when I would step into my own business world as an entrepreneur. Every person has some skills, talent, qualities, accomplishments, and experiences that hold special value in the life of a person and make him/her feel proud. I also have such qualities in me that make me realize that I can play a valuable role in the life of any other person. For example, I am a very modest and supportive person who loves to help others out in their difficult times. Although I have everything in my life that can make me feel proud, but I have always lived a modest life. I believe that all humans are equal and every person has the same emotions as of us, thus, we should respect the wishes of every person in the world. I love to support others in their good deeds as much as I can. I cannot see anyone in trouble. I want to play my role in resolving the issues of other people around me. For example, I often help disabled people in fulfilling their needs as much as I can and whenever I get the opportunity to do so. These qualities make me feel proud and motivate me to continuing playing a positive role in the lives of others. Here, I would want to relate an experience that is important to me. I had a childhood friend with me who was very intelligent and used to get good positions in the class tests and exams. However, his parents were not financially sound enough to meet every need of the family. When we reached the grade nine in our school, their financial position became so weak that my friend became unable to pay the dues of the school due to which the school management sent him the notice to pay the fee as soon as possible. My friend shared his situation with me, which made me very sad. I did not want to lose my best friend who was also one of the most intelligent students of the class and often helped me in my studies. I started thinking about the ways to help my friend at this point of time. An idea got into my mind. I had saved some money that my parents used to give me as my pocket money every Thursday. I had the plan to buy a new laptop machine because of my interest in laptops. I had always thought of buying the latest model of Sony laptop. At that time, I had saved enough money to fulfill my desire without the help of my parents. However, I gave a big part of that saved money to my friend to pay his dues of the school. Although I had to wait for another six months to buy the laptop, but the feeling I got from helping my friend at his difficult time was far more than the pleasure I felt when I bought my desired laptop machine. I felt bound to help him not only because he was my best friend but also because of my nature. This experience brought in me a new sense of reaching the highest level of internal pleasure and satisfaction by keeping my own wishes aside to help others in their difficult times. This experience makes me feel proud at times and it definitely links to my overall personality. I would also like to tell that I am a very positive thinking individual. I do not focus much on the negative aspects of the issues, rather I try to figure out the positive aspects and correct the negative ones as much as I can. For example, if someone stops me from becoming the friend of some other person due to any negative reason or some negative aspect of his/her personality, I appreciate the positive aspects of the personality of that person and try to reduce the negative element of his/her personality as much as I can. I think that we all should adopt the same approach of promoting the positives instead of the negatives and instead of leaving someone alone due to any reason, we should try to work on reducing the negative element of his/her personality and make him/her a productive and positive part of the society.
